RN Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

March 1, 1958, a brand new hospital a not-for-profit public entity was constructed on its current site. Between 1967 to current, the hospital has undergone several remodels and additions, including the construction of a new 3-story patient tower in 1985, increasing the hospital capacity from 53 to 93 beds. A Cancer Treatment opened in January 1990 which gave the community the much-needed service of radiation and medical oncology. In June 1992, the hospital acquired an MRI that is housed on the premises in its own stand-alone facility. 1996 saw the expansion and upgrading of the Emergency Department and the building of a 5-story patient care tower that doubled the size of the hospital. We now have approximately 150 births per month in our Women’s services area, and provide over 38,000 Emergency Room visits per year.

Minimum of one year recent acute care RN Registered Nurse experience required.
Under the general direction of the Unit Director, Clinical Manager and Charge Nurse, independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Hospital Department of Patient Care Services and the nursing profession in a positive manner.
Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served, i.e. Neo-Nate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as an RN Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Must have and maintain ACLS within 6 months, PALS within one year & MICN certification as soon as class space is available and employee is designated by department manager/director. Minimum MICN requirements must be met. Must have and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or obtain within 6 months of assignment to department.
This position has variable hours. Must have open availability including nights.
